On-Screen Fingerprint Sensors
We all know that in 2018, there are already many Android mobile phones that use on-screen fingerprint sensors or others call it an in-display fingerprint reader. The first to use this in-display fingerprint sensor is Vivo. With Vivo XPlay 7, Vivo introduces an under-display fingerprint scanner and also a full view display on Vivo X20 Plus UD.
Of course, Samsung already went ahead before Vivo by launching an under-glass fingerprint sensor with Synaptics. For the record, in 2016, Synaptics already launch the technology which then followed by CrucialTec. However, it is said that the in-display fingerprint sensor on Samsung causes some issues regarding the display. Let’s pray that in 2019, Samsung will be able to overcome those issues.
Following Samsung and Vivo, other smaller OEMs are also launching their smartphones with the in-display fingerprint sensor. Such as Xiaomi, Huawei, OPPO, OnePlus, Sharp Aquos S2, and many more.
Another thing to expect in 2019 smartphones is the display. The bigger and the wider is better and it has been many years OEMs start to produce smartphones with an almost bezel-less display. Such as Sharp Aquos Mini, Xiaomi Mi Mix, Nubia Z9, ZTE Blade V9, Essential Phone, and also the Honor 10.
However, we can safely say that in 2019, we will see more OEMs produce smartphones with completely bezel-less displays. The first to introduce the bezel-less display smartphone is none other than Vivo with a futuristic design and Doogee MIX 4. Huawei is also planning to join the market by producing a full bezel-less display.
We all know that more smartphones are already using AI or Artificial Intelligence. The first to invest in using the AI in smartphones is none other than Lenovo. Of course, Samsung is following behind by acquiring Fluenty and focus on AI and developing the AI processors for both smartphones and servers.
